There are 3 parts to the CIA exam. A candidate must clear all the 3 parts of the Certified Internal Auditor exam in order to gain the certification. Exam of Part 1 (125 Questions) is of 2.5 hours duration whereas both Part 2 (100 Questions) and 3 (100 Questions) are of 2 hours each.
The scores for the Certified Internal Auditor exam are scaled scores and are measured on a scale of 250 points to 750 points. Candidates are required to score a minimum of 600 points in order to successfully clear the CIA exams. Simply put, one has to obtain 80% score to get awarded by CIA Certification.
The CIA certification exams are conducted through the Prometric Center across the globe. Results are declared immediately upon submission of the exam on the same day.
The CIA Certification cost includes IIA membership fees, application fees, exam fees, and study material/training costs.
Membership fees vary from country to country. In India, membership fees cost around INR 3500 + GST per year and INR 1500 plus GST as one-time payment. But there are huge discounts in CIA Certification fees if one is a member of IIA India as compared to a member of IIA of other countries. To become a member of IIA India, one should be a resident of India.
